In the Native American culture, the cardinal symbolizes renewed vitality through recognizing self-importance. It is also a year-round bird. We at Arrowhead Massage therapy have adopted the cardinal as our totem to symbolize our availability every day of the week, and our mission is to help you renew your vitality and recognize your self-importance.
AUTUMN - A TIME OF HARVEST, PREPARATION AND GRATITUDE
No matter your age, you can "feel" fall in the air. Some of us "feel" it in our aching joints and muscles. The weather is cooler, damper, and the days are shorter. It is time to slow things down a bit, to reap the benefits of a hard season at work, and to prepare for our cold Ohio winter. It is also the season of Thanksgiving and gratitude; a time to "feel" and appreciate our abundance.
Massage Therapy is an excellent way to relieve those aches and pains. It will help you to get in tune with the season, to slow down, to reward yourself, and to be grateful to your body. A regular massage will help you prepare for a more comfortable Winter, with more gratitude.
Massage Therapy reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, and increases endorphins, the body's natural pain-killers. When your Body is relaxed and fully functioning, your Mind can also take a break, allowing your Spirit to rise. Therapeutic Massage enhances medical treatment and helps people feel less anxious and stressed, relaxed yet more alert.
We all have stress, and some stress is necessary to be functional, productive citizens. The problem for most of us is that we are over-stressed, over-worked, sleep-deprived, and under-appreciated. Stress manifests in many forms. It can appear as a headache, insomnia, neck/shoulder pain, low back pain, irritability, ulcers, twitches, depression, anxiety, digestive irregularities, or a lowered immune system which makes you more susceptible to viral and bacterial attacks. According to Sandra McLanahan, MD, Buckingham , VA , "Massage Therapy is beneficial for almost all diseases. Eighty percent of disease is stress-related, and massage reduces stress."
Massage is to the human body what a tune-up is for a car. The obvious difference is that you can buy a different car but, like it or not, your body is yours to keep. This makes it even more important to provide your aching muscles with regular maintenance.
So, while you take time to notice the Autumn colors and the geese flying South, while you caulk and seal in preparation for snow, be sure to make the time to appreciate and care for yourself with Massage Therapy.
